Dog Rescue
I volunteer for many local rescue organizations (mainly Golden Gate Lab Rescue). I take in the dogs that are not adoptable due to behavior problems. I work with them to solve the problems. I help to place them in their forever homes. I continue to offer my support and guidance to the new owners so that they may continue to learn how to care for their new dog.
Benefits of adopting a rescue dog:
- Save a dog’s life.
- The dog’s looks, size, and temperament are known.
- Select a dog of any age from puppies to seniors.
- Choose the level of training you desire.
- Adopt mixed breeds or registered purebreds.
Volunteering:
Rescue organizations need your help. There are many different opportunities available:
- Walking dogs – Dogs in kennels get stressed. Volunteers are needed to help get them out for a walk.
- Overnight with a dog – Some shelters allow dogs to do a “sleep over” to get some “home” time.
- Fostering – This is very important because even one night can save a dog’s life. Fostering can be on your terms, one day to one week or longer.
- Dog Outings- Take the dog to the beach or local dog friendly lunch spot with an “adopt me” vest on.
- Petting Dogs – All of the shelter love to have people come and just hang out and give some loving “pets” to the dogs.
